Summer travels landed us on a day trip to The Wilderness Center in Wilmont, Ohio. This environmental education facility features a museum building with displays on the local flora and fauna of Ohio, a gift shop and an exquisite wildlife viewing area. There is also a nice nature trail that is accessible to most. The trail goes by a nice lake occupied by very curious ducks and geese. A three-story observation tower sits at the top of the trail overlooking the lake and offers a pretty spectacular view. A smaller pond along the trail offers an nature viewing observation blind. This pond was full of frogs and turtles of various species. The woods along the trail feature the common trees of Ohio. A very fun natural playground for the kids is a must experience at this facility. It was fun for adults too!
